Instructions for Authors

The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry and Behavioural Therapy is committed to advancing innovation and excellence in psychiatric and behavioural care practice through high-quality publication of:
• Original research studies
• Clinical psychiatric and behavioural therapy case reports
• Technical and procedural therapy method notes
• Review articles and expert perspectives

Our mission is to promote scientific communication and clinical mental health education by disseminating research that improves patient outcomes, strengthens therapeutic decision-making, and contributes to global psychiatric and behavioural therapy knowledge.

We welcome submissions from:
• Psychiatrists and psychiatric trainees
• Clinical psychologists and behavioural therapy practitioners
• Multidisciplinary clinical and academic groups
• Professionals advancing mental health safety and therapy standards

 

2. Article Types

  1. Original Research Articles
    • Clinical, psychological, or translational research in psychiatry or behavioural therapy.
    • Must include methodology, data analysis, and interpretation.
    • Word count: 4,000–6,000 words.
  2. Clinical Case Reports
    • Unique, complex, or diagnostically challenging psychiatric or behavioural intervention cases.
    • Emphasize therapeutic decision-making and clinical insight.
    • Word count: 2,000–3,000 words.
  3. Review Articles
    • Systematic, narrative, or critical reviews of psychiatric or behavioural therapy methods.
    • Should identify therapeutic gaps and propose practice directions.
    • Word count: 5,000–8,000 words.
  4. Short Communications
    • Brief research updates or early-phase intervention analysis.
    • Word count: 1,500–2,500 words.
  5. Opinion / Perspective Pieces
    • Expert commentary on psychiatric innovations, therapeutic ethics, or clinical challenges.
    • Word count: 1,000–2,000 words.
  6. Technical Notes / Therapy Protocol Descriptions
    • Step-by-step descriptions of therapeutic techniques or modified treatment procedures.
    • Emphasis on reproducibility and clinical application.
    • Word count: 1,500–3,000 words.
 

3. Manuscript Preparation

Language and Writing Style
• Manuscripts must be in clear, professional English.
• Authors are encouraged to seek editing support if English is not their first language.
• Use of APA 7th Edition for references unless otherwise noted.
• Define abbreviations at first use; minimize jargon.

Structure
• Title Page, Abstract (250–300 words), Keywords (5–7), Main Text sections, Acknowledgments, Conflict of Interest, Data Availability.

Ethical Compliance

• All clinical and psychological studies must comply with institutional and ethical guidelines.
• Written informed consent is required for patient or client cases.
• Sensitive case data must be anonymized.
• Studies involving vulnerable populations must follow enhanced ethical review.
• Registered clinical trials must include registry numbers where applicable.

5. Submission and Peer Review Process

Submission
• Submit manuscripts via the Journal of Biomedical Devices and Technology Online Submission System (Otso Publishers).
• Acceptable formats: .doc/.docx for text; .png, .tiff, .eps for figures.
• A cover letter must include:
o Statement of originality
o Relevance to biomedical device and technology advancement
o Confirmation that the manuscript is not under review elsewhere
• Authors may suggest reviewers but must avoid collaborators or recent co-authors.

Peer Review
• Double-blind peer review is followed.
• Manuscripts are evaluated for technical relevance, originality, rigor, and ethical compliance.
• Editorial outcomes: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, Reject.

 

6. Post-Acceptance Procedures

• Proofs sent to the corresponding author.
• Only minor edits allowed at proof stage.
• High-resolution figures required before publication.
• Authors must sign the Open Access Publication Agreement.

 

7. Open Access Policy & Article Processing Charges (APCs)

• Open access under CC BY 4.0.
• Articles freely available online at publication.
APC: USD $535 per accepted article.
• Waivers/discounts available for:
o Authors from low-/middle-income countries
o Early-career researchers or unfunded projects

 

8. Copyright and Licensing

• Authors retain copyright.
• Publication license granted to Otso Publishers under CC BY 4.0.
• Permission required for third-party content.

 

9. Plagiarism, Redundancy & Scientific Misconduct

• Screening for plagiarism and duplicated content.
• Self-plagiarism and data manipulation prohibited.
• Misconduct may result in rejection or reporting.
• COPE guidelines strictly followed.
